Henry S Martin

Henry Selmer Martin, Jr, was born on September 9, 1927, to Henry Selmer Martin and his wife, Naomi Etta Martin. They lived in Renville County, ND, near Mohall, ND, where they lived on a family farm that was located south of Des Lacs, ND. Henry graduated from high school in Des Lacs in 1945, and attended business school in Minot, ND. Following graduation, he moved to Billings, MT, where he met and married Georgia Gale Miller, and where Henry worked as a salesman for Coney Brokerage Company. Henry and Georgia moved to Bismarck, ND, in the mid 1970s, where Henry had accepted a job with the Brach Candy Company as a salesman. On August 14, 1996, Henry's wife, Georgia, died leaving Henry and their son, Terry, as her immediate surviving family. Following Henry's retirement, he met and married Catherine Dorothy Stockert on December 21, 2001. Henry and Catherine lived in Bismarck, ND, where on March 18, 2011, Henry died from a prolonged illness. Henry enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and woodworking hobbies. Henry was a quiet, gentle person who was a devoted husband and loving father. The entire Stockert and Martin families have been blessed by Henry's life on this earth and will continue on in life in loving memory of Henry Selmer Martin, Jr. Henry is survived by his wife, Catherine D. Stockert Martin; his son, Terry Isay Martin; and his brothers, Bruce Joyce Martin and Lynn Carol. Henry was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia; his parents, Henry and Naomi Martin; sister, Deloris Martin-Bush; brother, Wallace Martin; and granddaughter, Nicole Martin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, March 24, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E Broadway, Bismarck, with Rev. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery, north of Des Lacs, ND, where Henry will rest in peace next to his wife Georgia. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm Wednesday, March 23, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 7:00. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
