Herbert Miller

Herbert R. Miller, 79, Bismarck, passed away May 13, 2008 at the Baptist Home. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Bismarck Baptist Church with Rev. Trinity Opp and Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck and continue one hour prior to services at the church. Herbert was born on the family farm near Mercer, ND, on June 29, 1928, the son of Dan and Maggie Neuharth Miller. He worked on the farm until moving to Bismarck in 1949. Herbert married Arlene Johnson on November 26, 1955 at the Bismarck Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member and usher for many years. Upon moving to Bismarck he worked for Nash Finch as a truck driver and later for JW Larson Construction Company. Herbert also worked for the public school system for a number of years, mainly at Hughes Junior High. Most recently, Herbert worked at the office building for his brother, Harley, until 1995 when medical problems made him retire. Herbert had many loves in his life, which first and foremost were his family and church. After he retired, there wasn't a day that went by he wasn't working on some type of project, which mainly included his woodworking, until he wasn't able to anymore due to medical problems. He loved spending time with his kitties, Lexi and Libby who were his "girls," and spending time outside when it was nice enough, watching the world go by. He enjoyed going to have coffee with his buddies and walking in the mall. Herbert was always a kind-hearted, loving person and definitely lived a fulfilled life. He always enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. He was very loved and will continue to be loved and missed every day. Herbert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Arlene of Bismarck, ND; his two daughters, Brenda Jans of Mandan, ND and Renee Miller of Bismarck, ND; his four sons, Daniel Miller, David Ann Miller, Dale Miller and Terry Miller all of Bismarck, ND; his three granddaughters, Kristina Miller of Fargo, ND, Katie Miller and Emmy Miller both of Bismarck, ND; his two brothers, Chester Barb Miller of Glendale, AZ and Milo Joyce Miller of New Llano, LA; his sister, Adeline Dufloth of Fort Collings, CO; his sister-in-law, Francis Miller of Bismarck, ND and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of which he loved very dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Maggie and his brothers, Richard, Walter and Harley Miller. The family would like to thank the Baptist Home for their wonderful care of Herbert.
