Hilde Rasmusson

Hilde M. Rasmusson, 85, Bismarck, died July 25, 2003 in a local care center. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Robert Lynne officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday and 9:00 to 10:30 AM Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Hilde was born September 8, 1917 in Presho, SD to Anton and Anna Sather. She graduated from Presho High School and attended college in Rapid City, SD. In 1939, she worked for the Farm Security Administration, USDA, in Kennebec, SD and then transferred to the Regional Office in Lincoln, NE in 1940. Hilde and N. Paul Rasmusson were married in Valentine, NE on June 6, 1942. While Paul served in the Eighth Air Force in England, Hilde lived in Presho. When Paul was discharged, he returned to work with the Farm Security Administration. At various times the family lived in Bowbells, Williston, and Devils Lake, ND before moving to Bismarck in 1966. While in Devils Lake, Hilde was parish secretary of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the St. Olaf Ladies Aid and Sunday School. When the Lake Region Lutheran Home was built, she was employed as secretary. Hilde enjoyed visiting and working with the elderly. Soon after coming to Bismarck, she was a “gray lady” with the Bismarck Chapter of the Red Cross, visiting residents of nursing homes. Soon after the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center was built, Hilde was a volunteer, charter member, and past president of the women’s auxiliary. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member and past president of Trinity Lutheran Church Women, member and past president of the Bismarck Study Club and a member of P.E.O. Chapter N. Hilde is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Harry Poletes, Sioux Falls, SD; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Kim Rasmusson, Breezy Point, MN; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, J. Henry Sather, Macomb, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
