Ida Mae Binstock

Ida Mae Binstock, 69, passed from this life to her eternal life at her son's home in Bismarck, ND, surrounded in prayer with her family and listening to a favorite song, "The Rose," on May 11, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, May 16, at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, May 15, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 4:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Ida Mae Gresser Binstock was born in Richardton, ND, along with her twin sister on June 22, 1941, to Frank and Pauline Haydu Gresser. She was raised on a farm south of Taylor with four brothers and two sisters. She attended eight years of grade school in Taylor, ND. She went to high school at Dickinson Model High, later named Campus High, and graduated in 1959. Ida Mae did many babysitting jobs during her school years to earn money, and helped her parents clean the apartments they owned, and worked at the Ray Hotel evening after school. She later worked in Lemmon, SD, as a waitress. She met the love of her life, Joe Binstock, during her junior year of high school. Joe and Ida Mae were married on May 18, 1960, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dickinson. To this union, ten children were born. They lived in the Regent/New England area. They moved to Leith in 1963 where they lived for 23 years. Ida Mae tended to the home and children by cooking, baking, sewing, canning, and her greatest love, gardening and keeping her rock gardens and flower beds primp and pretty. As the children grew up, she was involved with 4-H and was a leader for 15 years. She was president of the Carson school band organization. The family was members of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Carson where she was involved in the women's organization and also was a member of the board shortly before she moved to Bismarck. Ida Mae started a business as a Mary Kay consultant in 1986. Joe and Ida Mae moved to Bismarck in January 1986 along with their four youngest children. She got her first job out of the home working at the Airport restaurant as a waitress and later as a cook. She did various jobs like maintenance at Bismarck College and worked at Apple Creek Country Club restaurant. She operated her own home daycare caring for many children and grandchildren. Ida Mae was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved making German dishes she acquired from her mother-in-law, and also a lot from her own mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Many times she had meals on the table at the drop of a dime for a houseful! Her favorite was baking with yeast dough and she learned to make special breads like "Buska" Easter bread, poppy seed bread and rolls, strudel and buns of various kinds. Joe and Ida moved to Maple Grove, MN, in 2006, and lived with their son and his family, helping with their children; and spent summers enjoying cabin life at Moose Lake. Joe and Ida just celebrated 50 years of marriage along with their whole family and many friends in May 2010. Ida Mae's deep faith in the Lord and the enduring love from her family is what carried her through her battle with colon cancer and kept her so peaceful during her passing from this world. Ida Mae is survived by her husband of almost 51 years, Joe Binstock, Maple Grove, MN; her seven daughters, Roxanne Bill Zenker, Bismarck, Jody Lynn Michelson, Crosby, Kelly Terry Miller, Carson, Kathy Darryl Stewart, Bismarck, Tracy Nick Getzinger, Weston, OH, Dawn Jimmy Creten, Tonganoxie, KS, and Natalie Binstock her fiancé, Tony Miller McLouth, KS; her three sons, Monte Crystal Binstock, Mandan, Aaron Katrina Binstock, Maple Grove, MN, and Derek Linda Binstock, Bismarck; her 34 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, her twin, Irene Sam Binstock, Dickinson, and Ruth Neal Michelson, Flasher; three brothers, Frank Gresser, Pasco, WA, David Gresser, Dickinson, and Pat Gresser, Dickinson; one sister-in-law, Shirl Fred Lane, Denver, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pauline Gresser; and one brother, Paul. What a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma! We'll miss you so very much, but we know you'll be an angel in our hearts and each day will offer us your memory!
