Jerome Gaschk

Jerome "Jerry" K. Gaschk, 69, died September 5, 2006, at a Bismarck hospital surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at Parkway Funeral Service Chapel, Bismarck, with Rev. Burnie Kunz officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Jerry Gaschk was born on December 21, 1936, in Bismarck, the son of Paul and Olga "Babe" Jeromchuk Gaschk. Jerry was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1954. Jerry married Phyllis Laird in 1955, and together they had five children. In 1977, Jerry and Vivian Worcester Gierke were married. Jerry discovered his career niche in sales; first selling office equipment and printing, moving on to manage Northland Mobile Homes in Bismarck, Mandan, and Jamestown, to finally selling office furniture for OMF, Inc. until retiring in 2000. During his retirement, he worked a variety of sales positions. For many years, Jerry was a member of the Sertoma Club, holding several offices including President. Jerry loved hunting and fishing and the great outdoors, was an avid gardener, he also played amateur baseball and softball. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, was known for his sense of humor and his wonderful dill pickles. Jerry is survived by his wife, Vivian; his two sons and two daughters-in-law, Mitch and Della Gaschk of Bismarck, ND, and Bryan and Cindy Gaschk of Fargo, ND; his three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Cheryl and Tom Miller of Shelbyville, IN, DeeAnn Gaschk and her fiance, Bryan Werre of New Salem, ND, and Michele and Larry Ripplinger of Mandan, ND; his two step-sons, John Gierke and friend, Shari Lachenmeir of Bismarck, ND, and Mark and Denise Gierke of Lincoln, ND; his step-daughter, Terri Gierke and her friend, Stewart Burns of Medford, OR; Jerry's nine grandchildren, Amanda, Ariel, and Alex Bibb, Niko Miller, Ashley Gaschk, Jennifer Vannurden, Liz and Chris Gierke, and Zack Russell;one brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Ginney of Helena, MT; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his father and mother.
