Jerome Nelson

Jerome G. Nelson, 77, Bismarck, died April 26, 2007, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service Chapel, Bismarck, with Rev. Jo Pfenning officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Driscoll. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Jerome was born on August 14, 1929, in Steele, ND, the son of Homer and Clara Nelson. He attended rural school at Clear Lake #1 north of Driscoll. In 1947 he moved to Driscoll with his parents. Jerome worked for various farms on a temporary basis for numerous years while living in Driscoll. In 1967 he and his mother, Clara, moved to Bismarck, ND. After the death of his mother in 1975, he lived with foster families in the Bismarck area. While living in his own apartment for several years, oversight on his behalf was provided by Housing, Industries, and Training Inc. H.I.T. of Mandan, ND. He was employed with Pride industries for several years in Bismarck. He moved to the Baptist Nursing Home in May 2006 where he remained until the time of his death. While living in Bismarck he made numerous trips to Rapid City, SD, Salt Lake City, UT, and Fort Worth, TX, to visit his brother, Ron Nelson and his family. Jerome liked being around his family, he loved horses, enjoyed the outdoor sport of fishing, and liked to travel. He also enjoyed his numerous trips to the North Dakota Badlands, the Medora area, and to the Peace Gardens near Bottineau, ND, when traveling with the staff of H.I.T. Inc. Jerome is survived by one brother, Ron LaVerne Nelson of Fort Worth, TX; three nephews, Bryan Cheryl Nelson of Cypress, TX, Jerald Darla Nelson of Tomball, TX, and Randall Mirna Berg of Sandy, UT; two nieces, Kathleen Greg Taylor-Bauer of Palm Desert, CA, and Connie Steve Otten-Slater of Manchester, NH; and several cousins. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Clara Nelson; one sister, Helen Berg Nelson; and both sets of grandparents, Ole and Mary Nelson and John and Sereanna Lein.
