Jerry Stoddart

Jerry Stoddart, 57, Bismarck, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 15, at McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck with the Rev. Art Scanson officiating. Burial will be Monday at 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 - 9 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Jerry was born on June 13, 1946, Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of Floyd and Dorothy Cheser Stoddart. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1964. Jerry fell in love with his best friend, Phyllis Stinar Stoddart, also from Jamestown, and they married on January 16, 1965. Jerry began his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone in 1967 and they relocated to Williston, North Dakota. In 1969, they returned to Bismarck. Jerry retired from US West in 1996 and then managed the Bismarck Telco Federal Credit Union until October of this year when they merged with the Railway Credit Union and he continued working afternoon hours while keeping morning hours open for his friends and their many coffee breaks. Jerry was currently a member of the Bismarck Exchange Club and Bismarck Elks, and past member of Bismarck Sertoma Club. He was truly an unselfish person who put others ahead of himself always. There was nothing he wouldn?t do to help out a friend. His grandchildren were of greatest importance to him and he enjoyed shopping for toys for them. Jerry was an avid woodworker. He had made cradles for his grandchildren that will be passed on for generations. He also loved to spend time working on his flower garden and trying to keep the squirrels out of his bird feeders. He just recently started developing an interest in photography and was looking forward to using his skills with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Bismarck; their four children and their spouses, Teri Stoddart and Michael Moore of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Troy and Colleen Stoddart, Trent and Michelle Stoddart, and Tanya Stoddart and Steve Thompson, all of Bismarck; and his eleven grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, and Tyler Moore, Tanner and Larissa Stoddart, Jordan, Kali, and Drew Stoddart, and Cole, Luke, and Megan Thompson Luke and Megan being the twins that we just welcomed into our family. He was also privileged to have another young man who called him Grandpa, Joran Kramer of Bismarck. Also surviving him is his mother and step-father, Dorothy and Dan Aipperspach of Jamestown and his sister and brother-in-law, Donnelle and John Pogorzelski of Moorhead, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Floyd Stoddart in 1972. Jerry will be so missed by his family and always on our minds and in our hearts.
