Kathleen Martineson

Kathy Martineson, 56, Mandan, ND, passed away September 12, 2010, after a brave fight with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Pastor Greg Baker officiating. Burial will be in St.Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Family will be greeting guests a half hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service. Kathy was born January 4, 1954, in Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Bob and Elsie Coons. Kathy attended Bismarck Public School and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1972. It was at Bismarck High School that Kathy met her husband, Larry Martineson. Following their marriage, they started farming in rural Bismarck. They moved to Steele, ND, in 1978, where they started a dairy farm and spent 12 wonderful years running the farm and raising their three children, Chris, Nicole, and Tim. In 1990, the family moved to Mandan, ND. Kathy became store manger of Video Max for many years prior to her moving on to The Mandan Title Co. where she worked for 5 yrs, she then went to work for Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. It didn't matter where she was employed; she was quick to make friends and excelled at her job. In June of this year, Larry and Kathy celebrated their 38 year of marriage. Kathy loved spending time camping and fishing with her husband, Larry. Together, they enjoyed taking day trips throughout North Dakota and collecting Halls China. Kathy and Larry have spent countless hours playing with her grandson; time she always cherished. Kathy was known for being a hard-worker and for putting others needs before her own. She will be forever loved and missed. Kathy is survived by her husband, Larry, her son, Chris Martineson, her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sara Martineson, Mandan; her daughter, Nicole Martineson and her fiancé, Duke Harildstad, and Kathy’s pride and joy, grandson, Damien age 3, all of Mandan; her mother, Elsie Coons, Mandan; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ron and Shirley Coons, and Larry Coons, all of Billings, MT; three sisters-in-law, Marti Martineson, Bismarck, Judy Wilson, Mandan, and Bill and Donna Magnuson, The Dalles, OR. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Bob Coons; brother, Chester “Skip” Coons; sister-in-law, LaVerne Coons and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Ida Martineson, Bismarck.
