Kenn Schroeder

Kenn Schroeder, 41, Bismarck, died June 4, 2008 at Medcenter One after a courageous 17-month battle with cancer. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at Bismarck Community Church, Bismarck with Rev. Maury Millican officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday and from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Kenn was born May 25, 1967 at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL. As a boy, Kenn traveled throughout the US with his family while his father served in the Air Force. When Kenn was in the eighth grade his family settled in Paxton, IL, where he graduated from high school. After attending college he entered the US Air Force and was stationed at Minot AFB. It was there, he met the love of his life, Tammy Kuntz, whom he married on June 8, 1991 in Drake, ND. He often said the proudest day of his life was when he married Tammy and to their marriage they were blessed with two boys, Matthew and Jarred. They continued to live in Minot/Burlington until 1997 when they moved to Bismarck where Kenn attended the University of Mary. In 1999, Kenn began working for the ND Information Technology Department. Kenn was passionate about his work and his co-workers became a second family to him. He loved bow hunting and fishing. He saw nature as a gift from God to share with Tammy and his boys. Kenn loved to golf, especially with his family. He also enjoyed photography, and taking pictures of his sons sporting activities, especially basketball. Another one of Kenn's hobbies was playing the guitar, which would give him peace during his battle with cancer. Kenn prided himself on his work ethic. But in all that he did, his family came first. He was a man of integrity, courage and respect. Kenn is survived by his wife, Tammy; his boys, Matthew and Jarred; his parents, Larry and Sue Schroeder of Paxton, IL; his brother, Brian of Paxton, IL; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Sara Kuntz of Drake, ND; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Kim Kuntz of Minot, ND; his sister-in-law, Susan Gefroh of Bismarck, ND and two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother-in-law, Kent Gefroh.
