LaVerne Braun

LaVerne R. Braun, 62, Bismarck, ND, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at11:30 a.m. at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Avenue, Bismarck, ND, with Father Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 31, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Avenue, Bismarck, where a vigil service followed by a rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. LaVerne was born November 28, 1947, at Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Jack P. and Hermina Heidrich Jochim. She grew up on a farm in rural Strasburg and graduated from Strasburg High School. She obtained a cosmetology degree from Joseph’s School of Hair, Minneapolis, MN. LaVerne married Dwaine D.J. Braun on February 8, 1969, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg.The couple lived briefly in Minneapolis, MN, and then settled in Bismarck. LaVerne was a member of Church of St. Anne. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, traveling, basking in the sun, and spending time with her family and friends. LaVerne was a rare soul, wise and patient. She was the kind of person who, by virtue of example, made you want to be a better person. She was a bright and shining light that will, by all accounts, be missed and warmly remembered. Those that knew of the battle she fought will likely feel only peace and joy for her having left this world for a better one closer to God. LaVerne is survived by her mother, Hermina Jochim, Linton, ND; her two daughters, Lynn Braun, Boulder, CO, and Sarah Sean Braun France, Oakdale, MN; her two sons, Kyle Braun, Fargo, ND, and Chris Erika Braun, Fargo, ND; her grandsons, Jacob Larson, Charlie France; her seven brothers, Florian Elaine, Wishek, ND, Daniel Cindy Lakeville, MN, Kenneth Doris, Linton, ND, Jerome Annette Bismarck, Gerard, Webster, MN, Kevin Lori Hastings, MN, and Glenn Sue, Lakeville, MN; her seven sisters, Jolenta Peter Penoncello, Richfield, MN, Alice Taillefer, Richfield, MN, Rita Terry Holzer, Linton, ND, Janet Wilbert Goldade, Bismarck, Esther Sean Jochim, Bismarck, Sheila Chuck Job Bismarck, and Melissa Jochim, St. Paul, MN; her Godchildren, Flora Austad, Jodi Jangula, A. J. Anderson, and Jacob Golberg; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, her brother David; her sister, Mary; her niece, Kerri Braun; and her nephew, Greg Jochim.
