Leo Husebye

Leo Husebye, 76, Bismarck, passed away February 25, 2010, at Medcenter One Hospital in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Wes Aardahl and Rev. Chris Alexander officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Leo was born on February 16, 1934, at Fargo, ND, the son of Howard and Gladys Stevens Husebye. He attended Pleasant No. 8 Country School and graduated from Kindred High School in 1953, after which he attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He was a proud member of the U.S. Naval Reserve. Leo married JoAnne King on November 5, 1954. He worked for several ranchers and farmers in the Leonard, ND, area. In 1961, they moved to Tioga, ND, where he was manager of the Great Plains Lumber Company, later managing Peterson’s Creamery. In 1979, he was employed by the North Dakota Workmen’s Compensation Bureau as a compliance officer. He then worked for OSHA and retired from there in January 2000.He was an avid outdoorsman whose favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and his love for horses. He was a member of the Tioga Fire Department where he served as rural fire chief and numerous community organizations. His greatest love was for his family and grandchildren as well as his coffee club gang. He will be deeply missed by all. “Rest easy our friend!”Leo is survived by his wife, JoAnne, Bismarck; his sons, Jeffrey Ray Deb, Garrison, Joel Howard Darla, Mandan, Jerome Lee, Colorado Springs, CO, and James Scott, ND; his sister, Beulah Rustad, Kindred; his grandchildren, Tasha, Bismarck, Shantel, New Rockford, Jonathon, Fargo, Bernadette, Bismarck, Savannah and Joshua, Bismarck, O. Kaiden and Ella, Mandan, Amanda and Heather, Bismarck, and Dale, NH; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gladys Stevens Husebye.
