Leo Anton Wolf

Leo A. Wolf died at the age of 90 on Saturday, April 7th, at 3:00 pm, surrounded by family. Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 12, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, ND. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Zeeland, located near the family farm. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 11, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck, where a KC Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Amelia. The first time Leo set eyes on Amelia he got down on one knee, held her hand, asked for their first dance and their journey began. They raised six children, on a farm in Zeeland, North Dakota and latter moving to Bismarck. Leo was devoted to his faith and a loving father who cherished his children; Sharilee Doug Everson, Marilyn Gary Messer, Lea Steve Nelson, Patrick Sharon Wolf, Juliene Steve Altman and Tamara Wolf. His joy and what gave him the greatest happiness was his grandchildren; Douglas Everson, Crystal Logan, Quintessa and Miles Nelson, Amanda, John, Kurt, Savannah, Evan, Alexandra Wolf, Jessica Wangler and Jara Popinga and great grandchildren. He was fond of his many nieces and nephews. His family will remember their kind and loving father and grandfather as a spiritual teacher and student of life who embraced humor, style and the joy of music and literature. After graduating from college, Leo enjoyed teaching in country schools for eight years; beginning each day by starting a coal furnace to warm the classroom. He was a nightclub owner in California, retail store manager and farmed for 20 years. While farming, he was a leader in several farm organizations. Leo was also an insurance agent and a real estate investor. After 25 years, at the age of 75, Leo retired from the State of North Dakota, as a State Auditor for the Revenue Department, and remained living in Bismarck. Throughout his life, Leo enjoyed writing short-stories and poetry and going to mass everyday when possible. Leo is survived by his wife, five children and siblings Peter Wolf, Katie Payne and sister in-law; Katie Wolf. Leo is preceded in death by his daughter Tamara Wolf, his parents; John and Mary Wolf, siblings and in-laws; John and Wally Wolf, Johanna and Anton Feist, Margie and Roy Holzer and Orville Payne. Dear husband, father and teacher, you will live on in all of us. We will miss you, cherish you and remember you. We will meet again… just keep whistling.
