Linda Kay McArthur

Linda Kay McArthur, 61, passed away at home peacefully on February 17, 2015, into the everlasting peace of God's loving arms. Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 20, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Larry Jahnke officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, February 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Linda was born in Bismarck, ND, on November 10, 1953, the daughter of Eugene and Julia Schutt Mastel. She attended Arnold Country School through the 8th grade in the Bismarck area. Linda graduated in 1971 from St. Mary's High School, Bismarck, ND. Linda married Gary McArthur on February 22, 1974. With this union they were blessed with two children, Joni and Travis. Linda always made sure her kids were taken care of before her own needs. Linda started her career in April 1978 with the Soil Conservation Service as a part-time clerk. She was promoted to Administrative Secretary at the State Office in December of 1978. Linda attended night classes at Bismarck State College for many years, as well attending numerous training sessions for Soil Conservation Service. During these years, Linda advanced to the position of Purchasing Agent for the Soil Conservation Service. The day Linda received her business degree at BSC, after many years of balancing family, home and work, was a proud moment for her and her family. Shortly thereafter she was appointed to the position of Supervisory Contracting Agent until her retirement on November 29, 2013. In her leisure time she thoroughly enjoyed gardening, bowling, crocheting, puzzles, and reading. The entire family loved Linda's fleischkuekle-it was the best. Linda is survived by her husband of almost 41 years, Gary; her children, Joni and Travis; her four grandchildren, Chance, Gage, Jazmine, and Riley; two sisters, Susan Tom Doppler, and Pam Marv Schonert; one brother, Joe Laura Mastel; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Julia; her mother-in-law, Ernestine. She also leaves behind many loving friends and co-workers and many happy memories.
