Loraine Evelyn Huisinger

Loraine E. Huisinger, 93, Bismarck, died November 27, 2010, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 5:30 pm Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Nate Keith officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm Thursday at Parkway Funeral Service. Loraine ?Larry? Evelyn Huisinger was born October 30, 1917, at Werner, ND, to Leslie Charles and Nellie Louise Dahl Hulett. The family moved to Grassy Butte, ND, then to Killdeer, ND, until 1929. After living in Dickinson, ND, for two years, they moved to Mandan, ND, where Larry graduated from high school. She attended Macalester College from 1936 until 1938 and the Minnesota School of Business where she received her secretarial certificate in 1938. While in Minneapolis, Larry worked for US Bedding Company. Larry married Lloyd M. Huisinger DC, on July 21, 1940, at Mandan, ND. They were married for 62 wonderful years. Their family lived in Davenport, IA, 1951, Minneapolis, MN, Audubon, IA, 1952 and in Watertown, SD, from 1957 until their final moved to Bismarck, ND, in 1973. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1965 when for several years she wrote radio ads for KWAT in Watertown, SD. After moving to Bismarck, she sold real estate for three years before retiring. Larry was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was in Circle 9, sang in the church choir, and was past president of Trinity Lutheran Church Women. She loved music and was also a member of Thursday Music Club. She belonged to Shrine Auxiliary, was past president of P.E.O. Chapter AA and served on the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Board of Directors. She liked to walk, golf, read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. She had a great capacity to give and love unconditionally. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Love, grace, and compassion best describes Larry who enjoyed life and thanked God for it. Her door was always open to anyone who needed that feeling of ?coming home.? She is survived by her son, Mark Huisinger, CO; her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and John Turzer, NV; four grandchildren, Jade Beardsley, Ira L. Britton, Amy Grant and Loren Huisinger; two step-grandchildren, Traci Grundstrom and Bob Turzer; four great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren; her nephew, John Seale, San Diego, CA; and her niece, Alison Fenn, Washington DC. A very special thank you to friends of the family and caregivers who looked out for her when family couldn?t be here. Larry was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; and her sister, Edna Mae Seale Ryder.
