Lorraine Hall

Lorraine Rose Hall, 87, died January 1, 2007, at MedCenter One, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND, with Rev. Chris Walter and Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Minot. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Lorraine was born in Kenaston, North Dakota, on December 18, 1919, to John and Clara Schumacher Doetzel. Lorraine attended grade school at St. Agnes in Kenmare, and graduated from high school at St. Leo's in Minot. She received her degree from Minot State Teachers College in 1940. Lorraine loved teaching and taught in rural schools near Powers Lake, Carpio and Bakers Bridge. For the past four years she resided at the Baptist Home in Bismarck. On August 5, 1941, Lorraine married Clarence W. Hall in Minot. Clarence died in May 1986. Lorraine was devoted to her husband and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She and Clarence enjoyed many years of working together with the family business. Lorraine was active in her parish and was a member of numerous parish organizations. She was a big booster of Catholic education in Minot. Lorraine loved to sew, bake, and can jellies and fruits. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and she was an avid reader. She had a particular love for her garden at Lake Metigoshe. Lorraine is survived by two sons and three daughters, Patrick Lenora Hall, Bismarck, ND, and their children James, Robert, Anne, Nicholas and Samuel; Lyle Susan Hall, Grand Forks, ND, and their children Nathaniel Anne, Kirsten Paul, Maren, Selah, Bennet, and William; Mary Hall Gatzka, Tucson, AZ, and her children Julian and Madalyn; Maureen Donald Carlson, Lakenheath, England, and their children Forrest and Claire; Theresa Hall Dennis Biesecker and their children Christina and Matthew; her two great-granddaughters, Aspen Biesecker and Kallie Gatzka Reed; and one sister, Regina Fuller, Bismarck. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; her son, Jerome; her siblings, Laura Dignan, Agnes Doetzel, Adrian Doetzel, Edwarda Adams, and Mary Doetzel; and her son-in-law Jim Gatzka.
