Lorraine Kasper

Lorraine Kasper, 76, Bismarck, died September 15, 2009. Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with Rev. Russ Kovash officiating. Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm. Lorraine Marie was born April 1, 1933, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, the daughter of Thomas and Eva Baron Kasper. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1951, and attended Valley City State College. She started work as a legal secretary for the firm of Strutz, Jansonius and Fleck, then worked as an administrative secretary for Provident Life Insurance Co. She spent the last 22 years of her working life at the department of human services. She retired in 1998. She was named secretary of the year in 1973 by the National Secretaries Association, of which she was a proud and active member. She enjoyed traveling to all parts of the United States to visit friends and family. She and her sister, Evey, doted on their 12 nieces and nephews, showering them with love and never forgetting a birthday or graduation; a tradition passed down to great-nieces and great-nephews. Lorraine was a devout member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit from the early 60s when she moved to Bismarck. She enjoyed lunches with many friends and organizations she belonged to and trips to the casino. We will all miss her, especially on holidays when she always brought, “nummy,” homemade treats for over 50 years. Lorraine is survived by her two sisters-in-law, Lois Tom, Mandan, and Pat Ron, Woodbury, MN; 12 nieces and nephews, Kathy Stewart, Ronda Kincheloe, Bob Kasper, Tom Kasper, Linda Jahrus, Don Kasper, Lora Wiemer, Jim Kasper, Bruce Kasper, Terry Kasper, Sue Kasper, Karla Fuller, and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bob, Tom, and Ron; and one sister, Evelyn, who was also her best friend and life-long companion.
