Louella Lange

Myra Louella Lange, 92, Bismarck, died November 17, 2009, at the Baptist Home, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, with Pastor Cathy Bliss and Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Burial will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Wilton. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Myra Louella Moses, the oldest of six children, was born May 22, 1917, on a homestead farm in rural Wing, ND, the daughter of Emil and Emily Lyman Moses. Louella attended rural grade school near Wing and graduated from Wing High School in 1934. In 1941, she graduated from Minot State University with a teaching degree. She went on to teach rural schools in Schrunk, Lyman, Rock Hill, Boyd, Painted Woods, Cromwell and Ecklund Townships in Burleigh County. She married Donald Lange on November 15, 1941, at the Presbyterian Manse in Bismarck. Following World War II, they made their home in rural Baldwin, where they farmed and Louella taught school for several years. Reading was very important to Louella and she would often be quoted saying, “I’ve got an article I want you kids to study up on.” She spent numerous hours at the library; always reading and studying. She enrolled in numerous seminars, including the Dale Carnegie Course. Donald and Louella were affiliated with Farm Family Vacations; hosting visitors from as far away as Germany. She and Donald also were foster parents to numerous children. Louella was a member of Busy Bees and Riverside Homemaker Clubs, Wilton American Legion Auxiliary, Wilton Senior Citizens, and a leader of the local 4-H Club. In later years, she was involved in the Hospice program as a caregiver. Bible reading and study were very important to Louella. Some of her favorite past-times were singing and playing hymns on the piano. Louella was very kind and compassionate, always being considerate of the needs of others.Louella is survived by one son, Bruce Nancy Lange, Baldwin; two daughters, Carlene Marvin Dockter, Baldwin, and Ardyth Dominic Volesky, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Carmen Jack Biesterfeld, Steele, Laura Alan Toman, Bismarck, Donald E. Lacey Lange, Bismarck, Dallas Kirsten Dockter, Valley City, Keith Alesha Dockter, Bismarck, Karli Jason Soule of Wichita, KS; eleven great-grandchildren, Nicole and Ty Biesterfeld, Emily and Addison Toman, Molly, Maggie, and Griffin Dockter, Callie Dockter, and Haley, Abby and Olivia Soule; one brother, Marlowe Rosemary Moses, Wing; and two sisters-in-law, Beulah Moses, Albuquerque, NM, and Virginia Moses, Moorhead, MN. Louella was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; and four brothers, Milton, Lawrence, Carl, and George Moses. The family prefers memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 401 Dakota Avenue, Wilton, ND, 58579, or a charity of their choice.
