Ludwina Zimprich

Ludwina Zimprich, 74, Bismarck, died May 4, 2009. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 11, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N. 2nd Street, Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will be receiving visitors starting at 6:00 PM on Sunday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM. Ludwina was born on September 17, 1934, in Blumenfeld, Ukraine, to Jakob and Helena Selenski Halter. She accelerated in school by passing two grades in middle school and also the entrance exam into law school. They moved to the United States in November of 1955, arriving in New York on the S.S. General Langfitt. Upon arriving the family located in Los Angeles, CA where she worked as a professional seamstress in Hollywood, CA. On April 15, 1961, she married the love of her life, Matthias Matt Zimprich. Together, they had two wonderful sons born in California. In 1965, Ludwina and Matt relocated to Bismarck and started Zimprich Trucking where she was an associate partner for 20 years. This business evolved into other very successful family ventures. She loved traveling, learning, and experiencing the different cultures throughout the world. Some of the places that she and Matt traveled to included all 50 states, Panama, Australia, Bahamas, Mexico, Sweden, Europe, Canada, New Zeeland, Greece, and numerous other destinations, and most recently, Egypt, which they visited in November of 2008. She also did some German language interpretive work. She was a member of the Eagles Club and a faithful member of Church of Corpus Christi for over 25 years. Cooking, baking, and experimenting in the kitchen were some of her many loves and talents, and she was once offered a professional baking opportunity. Her many hobbies included reading, crocheting, knitting, sewing and enjoying numerous flower and vegetable gardens in the yard. She and Matt liked to dance the polka, waltze, tango and to spend time with friends. Ludwina’s biggest passion in life was her husband, sons, and grandchildren who she loved dearly. Ludwina was a very kind, generous, and compassionate person and she will be dearly missed by her husband, Matt of Bismarck; her two sons, Robert Janet of White Bear Lake, MN, and Erwin Kathy of Bismarck; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, and Peter Zimprich of Cottage Grove, MN; her sister, Elvira Harry Bressel of Sonora, CA; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jakob and Helena Halter and her brother, Jakob Halter, Jr. Memorials may be given to Church of Corpus Christi Youth Fund.
