Lydia Berg

Lydia Sauter Berg, 96, Bismarck, died May 26, 2007, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 - 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Lydia was born on September 21, 1910, in Tuttle, North Dakota, the daughter of Gottlieb and Katherina Reiling Leno. She grew up and attended school in the Tuttle area. Lydia married Walter Sauter on October 9, 1930. Walter passed away in October of 1963. Lydia moved to Bismarck in 1967 where she worked for JC Penney for a time. She then married Henry Berg on January 15, 1972. Henry passed away in September of 2003. Lydia was a very loving, kind, and caring person with many friends. She loved gardening, flowers, and hand crafts. Many of her creations are proudly displayed in the homes of family and friends. She will be missed by many. She is survived by two sons, James Judy Sauter of Hugo, Minnesota, and Vernon Martha Sauter of Waco, Texas; one daughter, Patricia Charles Hintz of Bismarck, North Dakota; one daughter-in-law, Van Biech Sauter; one sister, Catherine Slichter of Casper, Wyoming; three sisters-in-law, Freda Leno of Valley City, North Dakota, Clara Leno of Mayville, North Dakota, and Christa Leno of Fargo, North Dakota; nine grandchildren, Dwight Barbara Sauter of Las Vegas, Nevada, Candice Bob Eckert of Mandan, Kyle Cydra Sauter of Bismarck, Renae Sauter of Richfield, Minnesota, Suzanne Sauter of Woodbury, Minnesota, Jennifer Vince Price of Arlington, Virginia, Amanda Sauter of Austin, Texas, Jared Hintz of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Angela Hintz of Hopkins, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren, Amber Jeffrey Lovdal of Bismarck, Robb Eckert and his fiancée, Jody Moldenhauer of Bismarck, and Grace and Delaney Price of Arlington, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Duane who passed away on February 26, 1993; one daughter-in-law, Diane Buchta Sauter who passed away in March of 1996; five brothers, Adam, William, Jacob, Herbert, and Gottlieb; and five sisters, Emelia Heidt, Minnie Sauter, and three in infancy.
