Lyle Bayer

Lyle Bayer, 87, Bismarck, died February 7, 2005, in a Bismarck center. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the English Lutheran Church in Tuttle, with the Rev. Valerie Kinlan officiating. Burial will be in the Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 PM Wednesday and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Lyle was born on May 26, 1917, in Tuttle, North Dakota, the son of William P. and Minerva Mullens Bayer. He was raised and attended school in Tuttle where he graduated from high school. Lyle farmed throughout his life and was employed by Mother Nature. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936 and was stationed in Priest River, Idaho. Lyle married Ione Veith on January 18, 1958, in Mandan, North Dakota. They continued farming in Tuttle. Ione passed away in 1988. Lyle enjoyed fishing, hunting, and reading. For forty years, he and his "Canada Fishing Buddies" looked forward to their annual journey north - as true friends, they knew each other's jokes and pranks and enjoyed playing them on each other. He was a member of the Tuttle English Lutheran Church, Tuttle Wildlife Club, and a volunteer with the Tuttle Fire Department. He moved to Bismarck in 1995. Lyle will be greatly missed by his loving family, his special friend, companion, and caregiver, Hilda Wahl of Bismarck; his daughters, Ruth Sharp and friend, Terry Poer, of Fargo and Helen and Steve Lipp of Bismarck; his sons, Larry Bayer of Menoken and William C. "Bill" Bayer of Mandan; his sister, Lois Sedevie of Minot; his brothers, Clifford Lorraine Bayer of Tuttle, Bruce Bayer of Florida, and Dale Bayer of Jamestown; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a wonderful extended family of in-laws, nephews, and nieces and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione and his brother, Glen. The family is most grateful to his nephew, Dean Bayer, for carrying on his farming legacy, the caregivers at the Baptist Home, to Dr. Orchard and his nurses, and the Primecare Health Systems. The family requests that memorials be made to the organizations of their choice and in deed of kindness to others, particularly the elderly. We will greatly miss your wisdom and sense of humor to a man who is "Out standing in his field."
