Lynn Vetter

Lynn Vetter, 60, Bismarck, died July 11, 2011, at his home in Bismarck, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at ND Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post #1326. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Lynn was born on September 11, 1950, in Riverdale, ND, the son of Wilbert and Ethel Elser Vetter. The family lived in Turtle Lake until 1958. In 1967, Lynn's father passed away and the family moved to Garrison, ND, where he attended school and participated in football and basketball. Shortly after graduation, Lynn was drafted in to the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he worked on military tanks. When he returned, he moved to Moorhead where he met the love of his life, Gwen, and they were married on November 30, 1975. After living in Texas for five years, they moved back to Bismarck where he spent the rest of his life with family and friends. Together Lynn and Gwen had three daughters, Lindsey, Beth, and Amanda. Lynn attended Peace Lutheran Church in Lincoln with his wife and children. He enjoyed mud racing in the Rudd Dawg and truck and tractor pulls in his Bismarck Express. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a diehard Vikings fan. Lynn worked the last twenty years at Community Action as a weatherization inspector. He was a loving, caring, and devoted father and grandfather to his three daughters and five grandchildren. Lynn is survived by his children, Lindsey Jerrod Blair, Beth Shawn Webber, and Amanda Kelly Whitworth; his grandchildren, Jerrod Jr., Monique, Ayana, Aaliyah, and Kyler; his sister, Janet Paul Wilson of Vista, CA; his brothers, Jerry Diane Vetter of Pahrump, NV, Jeff Cindy Vetter of Madsen, Canada, Rick Vetter of Garrison, and Ron Donna Vetter of McKenzie, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen; his parents, Ethel and Wilbert Vetter; and his granddaughter, Chanel Denae Blair.
