Marjorie E Milas

Marjorie E. Milas, 88, Bismarck, went to her heavenly home on August 6, 2012 at St. Vincent's Nursing Home. Services will be held at 11:30 am Friday, August 10, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with Rev. Scott Bauman officiating. She will be put to rest with her husband at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Thursday, August 9, at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at Eastgate Funeral Service. Marjorie was born in Crosby, ND, on September 22, 1923, the youngest of four daughters to Andrew and Celia Waage Hemstad. She moved with her family to Berthold, ND, where she graduated from high school. She attended college in Minot after which she became a country school teacher for a time. She married Earl Milas on July 19, 1946, in Minot, after which they lived in Kenmare, ND, where she was employed as an accountant at several local businesses. In 1961 they moved to Killdeer, ND, where she worked at the ASCS office. In 1962 they moved to Glen Ullin where they purchased the Glen Ullin Times. After retirement in 1993 they moved to their lake home west of Pick City, ND. Earl passed away January 3, 1997, and Marjorie continued to live at the lake home until 2003 when she moved to her daughter, Sharon and Aaron's home north of Bismarck. In 2010 she moved to the Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Bismarck, then to the St. Vincent Care Center in 2011 where she lived until her passing. She is survived and deeply missed by her son, Terry Charlotte, Bismarck; her daughter, Sharon Aaron Zempel, Baldwin; four grandchildren, Eric Jody Zempel, Hazen, Rebecca Milas-Busch, Bismarck; Andrew Keri Milas, Mandan; Nicole Lynn Opp, Bismarck; eight great-grandchildren, Breanna, Tanner, Levi, Laura, Isabelle, Kendyl, Ryken, and Cambree; one sister-in-law, Virginia Frieson, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; and her three sisters Elma, Jessie, and Mable. The family expresses gratitude to the many caregivers and spiritual leaders at the St. Vincent Nursing Home, for the kind, thoughtful and comforting care they gave Marjorie in her final weeks.
