Mary Kongslie

Mary E. Kongslie, 80, Bismarck, died April 26, 2010, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Towner, ND. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will start at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Mary was born February 4, 1930, McHenry County, south of Towner, ND, the daughter of Balzar and Juliana Ochs Jaeger. She grew up on the family farm and attended Copperdal Hill Township School near Towner and graduated from Towner High School in 1947. Following high school, Mary worked for her brother-in-law in the county auditor’s office in Towner. Mary married Truman Kongslie on October 9, 1950, at Little Flower Catholic Church, in Rugby, ND. They lived in various locations after their marriage until they settled in Herreid, SD, in 1961. While in Herreid, she worked for her family auctioneering service and as a nurses aid in the Herreid Hospital and Herreid Good Samaritan Nursing Home. In 1980, Mary moved to Mobridge, SD, and worked for Larson Funeral Home in Mobridge, Sittner Real Estate and Brown Palace Apartments. In 1993, she moved to Bismarck, where she was employed by Stoner’s Saveway Foods. Mary is survived by her daughter Trudy Anderson and son-in-law, Kevin Anderson, both of Bismarck; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Kongslie, New Salem; grandchildren, Jeremy Max Jessica, SC, Jesse Max Lynette, NC, Michael Kongslie Jessica Fiest, New Salem, Mitchell Jessica Kongslie, Hebron; and Nash, Kallie, and Rachel Anderson, Bismarck; four great-grandchildren, Parker, Nevaeh and Liam Kongslie, and Madisson Max; two sisters, Barbara Burckhard, Towner, ND, and Stephina Kivela, Portland, OR; three sisters-in-law, Delores, Donna and Alice Jaeger and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; two sons, Timothy and David Kongslie; one great-grandson, Maximus Kongslie; her parents, Balzar and Juliana; her brothers, Pius, Fred, Mike, Matthew, Frank and Antone; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Raymond Hagel, and Katherine and Neven Thompson; brothers-in-law, Roy Kivela and Tony Burckhard; sisters-in-law, Delores “Susie” Jaeger, Marie Jaeger and Doris Jaeger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
