Mary Frances Plante, 60, Bismarck, ND. Mary's wish was to write this obituary coming from her, even though she has passed. I began my eternal journey on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, after enduring a long battle from diabetes complications. I was afflicted with diabetes for 52 years. My funeral mass will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 14, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with Rev. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday, August 12, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. I was the oldest of seven children born to Francis B. and Donalda Bohro Waltz on November 8, 1951, in Fargo, ND. We moved to Langdon, ND, shortly after where I was reared and educated graduating from Langdon Public School in 1970. Two weeks later, I attended the Medical Division at Park's School of Business, Denver, CO, graduating from their Medical Assistant Course in 1971. I then obtained a certificate as a chest x-ray technician from the State Department of Health, Sacramento, CA. I married my high school sweetheart and soul mate, Ronnie Plante, on July 1, 1972. My family, friends, and religion are very important to me. I worked at Memorial Medical Center and St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach, CA. We moved to Bismarck in 1976. I worked at St. Alexius Medical Center. We moved out to Dickinson where I worked at Community Action. We then moved back to Bismarck where I worked at Aetna US Healthcare as a Customer Service Rep from 1992-1997. I enjoyed volunteering for grade school CCD in Dickinson, Jr. High CCD in Bismarck, as a legal assist of ND, and by helping VITA Income Tax in Dickinson and Bismarck. I enjoyed collecting salt and peppers shakers, cooking, baking, scrapbooking, camping, and Elvis. I also grew and donated my hair to Locks of Love. I deeply enjoyed my friends and relationships in my 12-Step support group. My survivors include my husband of 40 years, Ronnie; my son, LeeRon Angie, and children, Jonathan and Marianne; my daughter, Lonna friend Jasin and children, Coven, KeyRa, Alaina; my mother, Donalda "Donna" Waltz; four sisters, Pat Ken Leonard, Jean Kolling, Kay Wade Witzel, Joni Dave Nelson; one brother, Terry Sara Waltz; my mother-in-law, Anna Plante; two sisters-in-law, Judy Tony Goetzfried and Penny Rick Mutcher; three brothers-in-law, Gary, Leo and Jim Lynne Plante; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. My favorite companion was my pet pug, Gizmo. I was preceded in death by my maternal and paternal grandparents; my father, Frances Waltz; my brother, David Waltz; my nephew, Weston Witzel; my father-in-law, Harvey Plante; and one sister-in-law, Mercedes Plante.
