Michael B. Schroeder

Michael B. Schroeder, 61, Bismarck, died April 18, 2012, at Medcenter One, Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mike was born on February 26, 1951, in Richardton, ND, to Mike J. Schroeder and Eva Krenzel Schroeder of Dodge, ND. They moved to Bismarck when Mike was a small child where he attended Northridge Elementary, Hughes Junior High, and Bismarck High School. After graduating from high school, he entered the Navy where he studied electronics and served on the USS Okinawa. He returned to Bismarck after the service where he worked in construction and cabinetry. In 1972 he married Sue Seiler and they had two children, Kris and Shandy. After they divorced, Mike spent many years as a professional musician. He met his current wife, Patti Stephoni, in St Cloud, MN, and they continued to travel, playing music together for several years before settling back down in Bismarck. Mike had many hobbies, along with collecting guitars. He enjoyed fly fishing and fly tying and most of all, enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles alongside Patti and friends. Mike, also known to his friends as "Nuttso", never missed the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally also known as The Nuttso Family Reunion until bad health took over in 2010. He and Patti met many lifelong friends throughout the years in Sturgis. Mike was involved in many groups and organizations in his life, from being president of ABATE of North Dakota, a member of the Dakota Riders MC, and a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group. He currently was a member of the Freewheelers Motorcycle Club of which he greatly enjoyed the comradery of the club. Safety was another passion of his, which he got into through a man whom he called "His Wizard" - Nick Ressler. He became a motorcycle safety instructor and that led him into his last job as a safety trainer at the ND Safety Council where he worked until he became disabled in 2002. Mike and Patti also enjoyed traveling to Nashville, TN, several times to enjoy the music scene there. Mike is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Patti; his son, Kris and his wife Christi of Bismarck, along with their six children, Alexas, Payton, Sebastian, Miley, Carly, and Chandler Ramsdell; his daughter, Shandy of Bismarck; his sister, Donna Bill Unruh, of Las Vegas, NV; and two brothers-in-law, Mike and Danny Stephoni of Austin, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and in-laws. Most of all Mike will be missed by his dedicated companion, his dog Waylon.
