Norbert Quintus

Norbert Quintus, 86, passed from this world on November 20, 2010, at St. Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Church of St. Anne in Bismarck, with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck where a KC Rosary/prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Norbert P. Quintus, the second son of Anton A. and Matilda Wehri Quintus was born on February 22, 1924, in Haymarsh, ND rural Glen Ullin. Norbert grew up in the Haymarsh area where he attended St. Clement Elementary School. Norbert worked at Urban Implement in Hebron and later worked in Dickinson where he met his future wife, Veronica Buresh. He married Veronica, the daughter of Louis and Agnes Buresh, on February 21, 1949. After their marriage, Norbert and Veronica started farming northwest of New Hradec, ND. They farmed until they were hailed out the summer of 1949 when they both started working again in Dickinson. In 1952, they moved back to the Haymarsh community and farmed for several years while Norbert worked for various employers including Schafer's Butcher Shop, Columbian Lanes, Joe Hartinger carpenter, Joe Hellman carpenter, and Jim Gerving farmer. In 1992, Norbert and Veronica moved to Bismarck. From their home in Bismarck they moved to Marillac Manor and later to St. Vincent's Care Center. Norbert enjoyed many different hobbies and was an avid baseball fan. He enjoyed harnessing miniature horses and woodworking. He also liked playing music on his accordion, fiddle, and mandolin. He weaved rag rugs and made and repaired rosaries. He enjoyed watching the activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Norbert was a member of St. Anne's Knights of Columbus and St. Anne's Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Norbert and Veronica have four children, Gerald "Gary" Mary Quintus of Richardton, ND, Consuela "Connie" Ken James of Billings, MT, Marcine "Marcy" Steve Moore of Mandan, ND, and Doreen "Dorie" Duane Eichele of Bismarck; twelve grandchildren, Dustin, Garrett, and Carly Quintus, Eric James and Kristen James Sanders, Mike Ratzlaff, Anthony and Stephanie Moore, Derrick, Dalton, Daniel, and Drew Eichele; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; and an infant sibling.
