Paul Douglas Schwichtenberg

Paul Schwichtenberg was born in Bismarck, ND on February 8th, 1956. He passed away April 6th, 2011 at the age of 55. Paul's memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 16, at 2 PM. During his early years, he earned his Eagle award in Scouting. Paul was Student Body President during his senior year at Bismarck High School. From that day forward, Paul was always connecting with his high school friends for gatherings and organizing high school class reunions, and then later, reaching them on Facebook. Paul was really into computers and had a special talent with technology. He developed the Class of 1974's website, which really helped everyone stay connected and provided news updates on many of his classmates over the years. Paul attended the University of North Dakota, majoring in Psychology and Computer Science. While at UND, he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and President of the UND Student Activities Committee. He worked for the City of Bismarck, Radio Shack, Sykes International, Microsoft, and a software company in Houston, Texas. Paul was very proud to be a member of the Bismarck-Mandan Elks Club, where he was able to connect up with several friends that he had made throughout his life. Paul won awards with his waterskiing team and karaoke singing. He loved dogs, flying airplanes, water and snow skiing, singing, and spending time at the family cabin at Lake Isabel. Paul leaves behind a ton of friends. If you were to meet Paul for 5 minutes, you knew that you were going to be friends for life. He had that electric smile with the twinkle in his eye when he was saying something humorous. If you ever needed a friend, Paul was willing to give you the shirt off his back. Once a month during recent years, Paul would gather several high school buddies at his house for movie night. He lived for these events. It was a great tradition he started after his parents passed away. He would subject them to his humorous harassment, something that we will all miss. Paul was very bright and witty, and we all benefitted from that. Preceding Paul in death were his parents, Doug and Shirley Schwichtenberg. He leaves behind his sister, Jan Pollock, of Tigard, OR, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
