Phyllis Peterson

Phyllis Ann Peterson, 58, Bismarck, went to be with her Heavenly Father after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, on December 30, 2009. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday at Century Baptist Church, 205 Colt Avenue, Bismarck. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm Sunday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Phyllis was born October 7, 1951, in Kenmare, ND, to AD and Amy Schwartz, and was raised and educated in Kenmare. She met her husband Mark at Oak Hills Bible College in Bemidji, MN, and they were married on June 25, 1972, in Kenmare, ND. The couple farmed in southern Minnesota and moved to Bismarck in 1975. Phyllis worked as a dental hygienist, played piano for her church, and was actively involved in other ministries. In 1986, she was diagnosed with MS. Phyllis devoted her life to being a wife and mother of three. She taught piano lessons, enjoyed sewing, working out, attending Bible studies with friends, and spending time at the family lake house. As her health continued to fail, she found joy in traveling, going to movies, reading with her daughter, and seeing her family grow with the blessings of grandchildren. Her faith and family gave her the strength to persevere for many years. She spent hours studying scripture and found peace in James 1:12. Her mission in life was to minister to others and glorify God through her illness. She is survived by her husband, Mark; children, ReNae Kirk Snustad and their children, Lily and Owen, Cambridge, MN, Graham Mica Peterson and their children, Emma, Mya and Lucy, Bismarck, ND, and Kimberly Mark Bieber, Bismarck, ND; her parents; two brothers, Dusty Kathy Schwartz and Tim Doreen Schwartz; one sister, Coral Sam Kora; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Dorothy Peterson and brother-in-law, David Peterson. Thank you to all who visited, prayed, and supported Phyllis and her family for all these years. Memorials are preferred to Shiloh Christian School or donor’s choice.
