Richard Larson

Richard V. Larson, 80, Bismarck, devoted father, neighbor and friend, passed surrounded by his family and Saviour Jesus Christ on August 16, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Bismarck Evangelical Church, with Pastors Luhmann and Stastny officiating. Burial and graveside will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the family plot in Riverview Cemetery, Savage, Montana. Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2003 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Richard Larson was born June 20, 1923 in Savage, Montana, and son of Alex and Lillian Larson. He was raised and educated in the town of Savage and graduated from Savage High School in 1942. He enjoyed attending Lions? Travel Log, watching his sons play basketball, and trading on the stock market. He was also a gifted beekeeper, tropical fish hobbyist, and skilled gardener. On May 12, 1946, he loved and married Lora Schell, from Richie, Montana. They farmed for seven years southwest of Glendive Montana, nurturing and loving their two daughters, Lilly and Paula. In 1955, Richard then moved to Billings, Montana, where he met his second love, Grace Bearquiver, and began his career with Burlington Northern Railroad. They subsequently made their home in Bismarck and were blessed with five children, Richard, Anita, Nancy, Monty, and Byron. Richard retired in 1988 from the railroad after 33 faithful years. In 1992, he ran for Burleigh County Commissioner with the help of his friend, Ron Shaw. Richard is survived by his seven children, Lilly Purrier and her son Jonathan; Paula Patton and her husband Mark; Richard Dewey Larson and his children, Teague and Jaydon Evans; Anita Larson and her son, Clay Fraser and great grandson, Christian Fraser; Nancy Razo, her husband Ben, and their children, Nicholas, Zeferino, Clint, Raul, and Grace; Monty Larson and his wife Denise; and Byron Larson and his wife Deborah, and their daughter Seri and baby; his brother, John Larson and wife Ida; special friends Will McInnis, Ron Shaw, Barbara Virk and daughters; and a number of additional family, friends, and church family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Larson; and his sister, Eugenia Larson.
