Robert Gerr

Robert Gerr, 78, Bismarck, died February 15, 2009, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday at English Lutheran Church, Tuttle, with Rev. Valerie Kinlan officiating. Burial will be held in the Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Thursday at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center with a prayer service at 2:00 pm. Visitation will resume from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert was born May 3, 1930, the son of Christof and Pauline Bauer Gerr. After school he began farming with his brother, Christ until his brother’s retirement and continued farming with his nephew until his own retirement. Robert continued to live on the farm and help out as much as he could until his health led him to his new home at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center where he met many new friends. As a young man one of Robert’s joys was hauling his nieces and nephews to basketball games. He was a member of English Lutheran Church of Tuttle where he was an usher for many years. He was also on the township board for many years. One of Robert’s talents was his memory; there wasn’t a birthday or anniversary of family and friends that went by without a card. Robert was also one to be ready to help any neighbor with whatever and enjoyed helping them move equipment from field to field. Robert is survived by his sister, Clara Bickel; brother, Martin Mary Gerr; nieces and nephews, Gladys Gerr, Steele, Christ Gerr, Tuttle, Ed Bickel, Tuttle, Norman Bickel, Tuttle, James Bickel, Tuttle, Marcia Gutman, Bismarck, Janis Leischner, Sauk Center, MN, Mary Kay Gerr, Grand Rapids, MN, Gerri Huber, St. Paul, MN, Myrna Melton, Woodbridge, VA, Julie Dine, Scottsdale, AZ, and Laurie Derhaili, Tualatin, OR; and many friends in Tuttle and surrounding areas and also all of his friends at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Christ and his wife, Martha; sister, Lenora and her husband, Robert Beattie; brother-in-law, Ed Bickel; an infant brother, Henry and infant sister, Martha; and a niece, Marie Beattie-Looney. The family would like to thank MSLCC for all the wonderful care and all the support through difficult times.
