Robert D. Pearson, farmer, government man, baseball and basketball player, beloved Son, Uncle, Brother, Father, and Grandfather. Robert "Bob" Pearson, 66, Fargo, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 28, 2011, in Edina, MN. Bobï¿½s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Sunne Lutheran Church in Wilton, ND, with Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert Douglas Pearson was born July 5, 1944, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Ruben and Augusta Hanwell Pearson. Bob grew up in Wilton, ND, where his parents owned the local bar and bowling alley. In the 8th grade, Bob moved with his parents to their farm northeast of Wing where he played basketball and baseball and graduated in 1962. Bob attended Valley City State University and graduated in 1971 with a BS in Education. He joined the Army and trained to be a Medic in 1966, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a Psychiatric Technician and was stationed at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, CO. Bob felt like he had caught a lucky break following his medical training school; as most of his training company was sent directly into Vietnam and he was chosen to work stateside. Bob always felt a strong compassion for the friends he trained with that did not return and the soldiers he worked with in the psychiatric ward. He was honorably discharged in 1972. He went on to work for the North Dakota State Highway Department and later took several positions within the Federal Government, working in Denver, Seattle, Chicago, and finishing his career in Fargo with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Bob enjoyed participating in all sports but excelled in baseball, basketball, and later softball. He spent his later years enjoying time spent with family and found a deep pleasure in spoiling his grandchildren rotten. Bob was loved for the genuine affection he felt for all that were fortunate enough to know him. He was known for his generous heart, sincerity, and humanity with which he conducted himself at all times. His deepest joy and love was found within his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Camille Pearson Walz, her husband Scott, and their two boys, William and Joshua; his son, Jonathan and his two children, Brooke and Austin; his brother, Ronald and wife Sheryle, and their children, Ronnie Kim, Jason Ashley, and Marci Terry; and his brother, Eric and wife Sue, their children, Carmen, Jennifer, Lori Chad, and Desiree. Bob has adoring aunts, loyal and fun loving cousins, and several wonderful nieces and nephews that will also miss him dearly. Bob is reunited in Heaven with his mother, Augusta and father, Ruben; his grandparents, Erik and Otillia Pearson and Thomas and Josie Hanwell; and his loving aunts and uncles.
