Rodney Salveson

Rodney Wayne Salveson, 51, former long-time resident of Bismarck, died peacefully on July 2, 2010 at 10:35 a.m. at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN. Friends and family were continuously at Rodney’s side throughout his stay at the hospital and ultimately upon passing. Services will be at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, ND, on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010, with a prayer service at 6 pm and until 9 pm, and continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rodney was born on September 8, 1958, in Williston, ND, the son of Glen and Carol Anderson Salveson. During Rodney’s time in North Dakota, he pursued a life of hard work and family commitment. He graduated from Century High School in 1976 where he wrestled for the varsity team at the state level. At 20 years old he joined his uncle in petroleum exploration within the Williston Basin in which Rodney took great pride. On November 3, 1979, he married Lois Maershbecker who blessed him with two sons, Derrick and Brandon. In 1989, Rodney took a career change to establish himself as a massage therapist and started Bismarck Massage Clinic in 1992. During his nine-year practice he maintained sincere professionalism and enjoyed helping people with their injuries and body pains. During this time, Rodney found fulfillment in spending time with friends, family, and especially his children. In 2001, Rodney made a life decision to move to Minnesota in order to regain a healthy life after a brief period of hardship. In Minnesota, he found joy in mentoring at risk adults, metal fabrication, and fishing with his twin brother. Rest In Peace!Rodney is survived by sons, Derrick of Bozeman, MT, and Brandon of Hayden, CO; his mother, Carol of Bismarck; former-wife, Lois of Bismarck; his brothers, Gary Bonnie and RonaldNatalie; his sisters, Ellen Wayne Jacobson, Linda Manley Truchan, and Julie Smith; as well as many friends and relatives. Rodney was preceded in death by Father, Glen Salveson; and his grandparents, Carl and Della Salveson and Carl and Oline Anderson.
