Ronald Ronnie A Klewin

Ronald "Ronnie" A. Klewin, Bismarck, ND, died on February 2, 2015, at his home in Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 6, 2015, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Mike Fix officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Family will be greeting visitors one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service. Ronnie, the eldest child of Alfred Ferdinand Klewin and Caroline Kathryn Engesser Klewin, was born in Bowman, ND, on August 23, 1936. He grew up on the family ranch north of Bowman. Ronnie attended the first three years of grade school at Rhame and Bowman Public Schools. Grades four through eight were completed at Sand Creek Rural School in Slope County. He graduated from Bowman High School in 1954. From the summer of 1954 until the summer of 1960 Ronnie worked at various jobs and attended college at Dickinson State College. In August of 1960 Ronnie was inducted into the United States Army. He served two years, separating in August of 1962. From September of 1962 to May of 1968 Ronnie completed a two-year Civil Engineering Program at North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, and finished his Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education at Dickinson State College. On August 23, 1968, Ronnie married Pandora "Penny" M. Haas Klewin of Lefor, ND. Ronnie and Penny taught for one year in Pine River, MN, and then five years in Hettinger, ND. In the fall of 1974, they moved to Bismarck, ND, where Ronnie accepted a position with the North Dakota State Board for Vocational Education. In 1975, Ronnie was hired by the North Dakota State Approval Agency for Veteran's Education and Training as a field representative. He became director of the agency in 1982 and remained in that position until his retirement the fall of 1998. Some of the great loves of Ronnie's life have been dogs, horses, old and classic vehicles, and his Grandpa Klewin. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Penny; his brothers Dennis Pat, Bozeman, MT, and Lauren, Amidon, ND; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Penny and her family extend everlasting thanks to St. Alexius Hospice Service and most especially, Lisa Goetz. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Alexius Hospice Service.
