Ronald Schaibley

Ronald Jerome Schaibley passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on June 12, 2005, he was 63 years old. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church in Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND with military rites by VFW Post 1326 Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Spirit of Life Catholic Church where a vigil will be held at 7:00 PM that evening. Visitation will continue Friday, for one hour prior to the service at the church. Ron was born December 12, 1941 in Harvey, ND to Mathilda Michel and Reinhold "Jack" Schaibley. He was raised in Duluth, Minnesota where he graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1960. Ron joined the Navy after high school and served as a SeaBee while stationed in Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1962. During a leave from the Navy, Ron met the love of his life, Beverly Ann Lacher in Bismarck, ND. Bev and Ron were married December 27, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bismarck. They spent the next 42 years together and raised five children. Ron worked for MDU for over 41 years in various positions in Bismarck and Mandan, most recently he worked as MDU's rubber goods tester. He retired in November 2004. Ron enjoyed vacationing with his wife and children and caring for his four grandchildren. His grandchildren meant the world to him, he loved to get on the floor with them and play trucks, color and tell stories. He enjoyed going to legion baseball games and traveling to the cities to see the Twins and Vikings play. Ron was active at Spirit of Life Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and reader, and involved in the men's ministry and prayer ministry. Ron is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Schaibley; his five children and their spouses, Suzanne and Jerry Hohbein of Bismarck, Stephen Schaibley and Deb Heese of Fairbanks, AK, David and Ann Schaibley of St. Paul, MN, Lynette and Jason Helgeson of Mandan, and Jeffrey Schaibley and Elisha Sieg of Elk River, MN; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Breann Hohbein and Alexis and Jase Helgeson; and his foster brother and his spouse, Jack and Theresa McRae. He was preceded in death by his mother Mathilda Schaibley, his sister, Eleanor Deibert, his twin granddaughters, Jillian and Jacqueline Hohbein, his foster brother and his wife Jim and Carmen McRae, his foster sister, Stella Ross, and his foster mother and father, John and Mary McRae.
