Rose Glass

Rose Glass, 88, King George, VA, formerly of Bismarck, died February 25, 2005 at her home. Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at Bismarck Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Don Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 9 PM Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Rose Allmendinger Glass was born June 4, 1916 in Mercer County to Rudolph and Lydia Wiest Allmendinger. She was raised and educated in the Dodge and Golden Valley areas. Rose helped her family with the farming, neighbors with their housework and helped raise her younger brothers and sisters. Rose accepted the Lord as her Savior in 1933, and was baptized in 1934 by Rev. Daniel Klein in the Knife River at Beulah, ND. She joined the Immanuel Baptist Church in Beulah and also attended church at Zap, which was a station of Beulah. Rose married William Glass November 21, 1937 in Zap, ND. They farmed until 1953 when they moved to Bismarck. She worked, for 35 years, as a housekeeper for many families in the area. She and her husband moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia in September of 2001, to live with their daughter, Shirley, and Stan and Tori Wentz, who cared for them when their health began to decline. Rose enjoyed embroidery work, traveling and visiting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bismarck Baptist Church and later enjoyed being a part of the fellowship at Fredericksburg Baptist Church. Rose's favorite verse was from Philippians 4:11b "...for I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." Rose is survived by four children, Arlene Bob Rowe and children, Shelly, Stacey, Scott, and Jeff; Shirley Stan Wentz and children, Tori, LaRaye, Allison, and Beth; Evelyn Del Bertsch and children, Todd and Lana; and Jerry Debby Glass and son, Nicholas; seven great grandsons; five great granddaughters; three great great grandsons; two brothers, Melvin Marlene Allmendinger and Clarence Margie Allmendinger; three sisters, Ramona Ken Brown, Darlene Fred Tremewan, and Mary Ann Gordon Andahl; and many nieces and nephews and friends who will miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bill; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Memorials may be given to the Bismarck Baptist Church.
