Ruby L Engelman

Ruby L. Engelman, 92, Bismarck, died October 28, 2013, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 1, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Perry Schnabel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, October 31, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruby was born on October 12, 1921, in Beulah, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Christina Burkhardt Heihn. She was raised and attended schools in Mercer County. Ruby was married to William Weigum and they had five children. Following their divorce, Ruby married Larry Engelman on June 15, 1962, in Mandan, ND. They have lived in Bismarck since 1963. Ruby worked at Montgomery Ward where she managed the mail order department. After leaving Montgomery Ward, she then started her business, Ruby's Ceramics. Ruby excelled in her work and also enjoyed oil painting, airbrushing, sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting, and she took pride in being an accomplished seamstress. Ruby and Larry also traveled extensively throughout the U.S. in their RV and were members of the Good Sam Club. Ruby entered Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in 2011. Ruby is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughters, Barbara Floyd Schulz, Bismarck, Marilyn Delroy Wohlk, Underwood, ND, and Marguerite Ulmer, Bismarck; her sons, Larry Eileen Weigum, San Antonio, TX, and Ron Judy Weigum, Bismarck; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her five step-children, Iris Bryan Torvik, Ft. Worth, TX, Jerald Linda Engelman, Detroit Lakes, MN, Kenneth Engelman, Bismarck, Neil Susan Engelman, Rochester, MN, and Harley Rebecca Engelman Bismarck; ten step-grandchildren 8 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Christina Heihn; her grandsons, Troy Wohlk and Jeffery Weigum; her son-in-law, Kenneth Ulmer; three brothers, Harold Ella Heihn, Edwin Esther Heihn, and Calvin Maxine Heihn; and two sisters, Alta Max Gasser and Alma Chester Loss.
