Rudolph Berg

Rudolph Berg, 83, Driscoll, North Dakota, died February 9, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Sterling United Methodist Church with Pastor Joel Winckler and Pastor Rick Craig officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan with military honors provided by VFW Post #1326. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 - 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Rudolph was born on March 10, 1923, to Jacob and Anna Ensz Berg at Arena, North Dakota. Rudolph attended school in Driscoll, North Dakota. He served stateside in the U.S. Army from June 1946 to August 1947. Rudy married Jackie Nieters on January 30, 1976. They had three children of their own, Linn, Chad, and Mary, and two special foster children, Star Silk and Mike Barrett. Along with their own children, Rudy and Jackie provided a loving home for many foster children. All were loved and cherished by the kindhearted, warm Rudy. He cared for his mother for several years and his love also readily touched those around him until the time of his death. Rudy actively participated in the Driscoll School Board, the Driscoll Township Board, the Burleigh County 4-H program, and nurtured a strong Christian faith by reading the Word and attending church regularly. He also enjoyed woodworking, reading, and had a strong love for his horses. He enjoyed his hobbies immensely, along with his farming and ranching business, until his health no longer allowed. Being the storyteller that he was enabled those around him to be easily entertained. Rudy was loved by many friends and family members. He leaves behind his wife, Jackie of Driscoll; his sons, Linn of Sterling and Chad of Driscoll; his daughter, Mary of Driscoll; two special foster children, Star and her two children of Bismarck, and Mike of Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters, Lena Berg of Bismarck, and Ardis Merle Funston of Sterling; his brothers, Ed Linda Berg of Garden City, Kansas, and Clarence Garnet Berg of Driscoll; his sister-in-law, Theresa Berg of Minot; and several special nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Edna Berg and Nadine Landenberger; and his brothers, Alfred, Kenneth, and William.
