Ruth Asplund

Ruth Palmquist Asplund, 78, Bismarck, passed away on September 5, 2007, in Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at Mission Evangelical Free Church, Wilton, with Rev. Barry Durkee officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck and will continue Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Visitation and a memorial service will be held in Anoka, MN, with burial at 10:00 am Monday, September 10, at Oakview Cemetery, St. Francis, MN. Ruth was born on October 20, 1928, to Kenzie and Lela Lindburg in Wagner, SD. In 1943 her family moved to a farm at Ronan, MT. She first attended Multnomah School ofthe Bible, then transferred to St. Paul Bible Institute, to complete her college education. While at SPBI, she met her husband, Lawrence Palmquist from Elk River, MN, whom she married on September 9, 1950. With him as pastor, she served at five Evangelical Free Churches for over 35 years in St. Francis, MN, Wilton, ND, Oak Park, MN, Hurricane, WV, and Rockford, IL until his death in April 1985. Together they raised five children. She married David Ned Asplund on May 31, 1986, in Wilton, ND, and lived on the farm there or in Sun City, AZ, until her death. She loved and served faithfully her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had a passion for missions. She loved and cared for her family members, was involved and served in churches and communities wherever she lived, and was a witness for Christ all of her life. She is survived by her husband, David Asplund, Bismarck; her children, Steven Carmen Palmquist, Minnetonka, MN, Thomas Aileen Palmquist, Taiwan City, Taiwan, Mark Terri Palmquist, St. Paul, MN, Susan James Valentino, Deer Park, IL, and Krista Nathan Allen, St. Paul, MN; David's children, Lynndell, Mark Vera, and Sharon Asplund; her grandchildren, Amanda, Christine, Peter, Annika, Nicole, Britta, Tristan, Julianna, Michael, Melanie, and Daniel; her siblings, Calvin Alice Lindburg, Alita Cleon Laughlin, Donald Lindburg, Carol Orison Cain, Paul Phyllis Lindburg, and John Reba Lindburg; her brothers-in-law, Rex Talmage and Eugene Anderson; 27 nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded by her parents; her first husband, Lawrence; her sister, Lorraine Talmage; and her sister-in-law, Valerie Palmquist Anderson.
