Ruth Kirschenmann

Ruth Kirschenmann, 91, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Steele, ND, left her home at Eventide Nursing Home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. We will celebrate her life at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 15, at the United Methodist Church in Steele, ND, with Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Saturday, June 14, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel in Steele, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruth was born May 29, 1923, in Napoleon, ND, one of 12 children born to John and Mary Schnaidt Wentz. She attended school in Napoleon. Ruth married Art Kirschenmann on August 12, 1941, at Elgin, ND. The couple farmed in Napoleon, Ypsilanti and Dawson areas before making Steele their home in 1960. Ruth was a loving mother to her children, nurturing them each and every day. A devoted wife to her husband, enjoying working together building relationships with their many customers at Kirschenmann Insurance and Real Estate, and a true friend to her many "coffee ladies." Ruth brought enjoyment everywhere she visited, bringing laughter, conversation, and smiles to all she engaged. In her final years she made her home at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN, where she continued to bring joy and laughter to the many wonderful staff, friends, and families that she loved there. Ruth is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, DeLayne and Marilyn Kirschenmann, Coupeville, WA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shari and Tim Weippert, Plymouth, MN, and Shelly and D.J. Arnold, Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Bryan Kim Kirschenmann, Trevor Tara Kirschenmann, Brent Kirschenmann, Chris Carrie Weippert, Lindsay Will Gladue, Dennis Arnold and Charles Arnold; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Jakob, Alexis, Gage, Kyla, Lydia, Ella, Liam and Nolan; one brother, Calvin Wentz, NE; two sisters, Mabel Kirschenmann, TX, and Charlene Jerry Cram, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Art in November 1988; her parents; five brothers, Carl, Rayburn, Dale, James, and Curtis Wentz; and three sisters, Edna Rudolph, Helen Wellan, and Alice Seiwert.
