Steven A Witcher Sr.

Steven A. Witcher Sr., 58, Bismarck, died August 15, 2011. Services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, August 18, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Steven A. Witcher Jr officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 19, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, August 18, at Parkway Funeral Service. Steve was born October 29, 1952, the son of Richard and Norma Pinkstaff Witcher. He was raised and attended schools in Calumet City, IL, where he graduated from high school. Steve married Patricia Seidlinger and to this union were born his son Steven and his daughters Jennifer and Elizabeth. Steve worked cross-country trucking for many years until starting to work with the Monarch Company, within their division of Western Wilbert Vault Co. He assisted with and cared for many families in laying their loved ones to rest. At first glance it would appear that Steve would be a force to be reckoned with, standing head and shoulders above most who had the privilege to know him. However, it was not the size of his physical appearance that would overwhelm you, it was the size of his heart. Steve was simply a gentle giant to all who knew him. His soft speech and kind and respectful demeanor made a lasting impression. So, to all of you who were used to craning your neck to look up to this man whose heart stood taller than his stature, continue to look heavenward, with a smile, knowing he left his mark upon your life. And may you still feel that baseball mitt of a hand resting on your shoulder, encouraging you to look down the road and keep your eyes on the horizon. Steve is survived by his children and grandchildren, Jennifer Kyle Vollmer and their children Kail, Dylan, and Zachary, Anamoose, ND, Steven Debra Witcher Jr, and their daughter Laeloni, Pierre, SD, and Elizabeth Charles Dion and their children Taylor, Nathan, and Benjamin, Devils Lake, ND; his sisters and nieces and nephews, Mary Beth Mike Conway and their children Melissa and Michael, Hammond, IN, and Gail Zack Sturk, and their children Zachary, Alice, Frances, Azary, Riverside, CA; and his stepchildren, Michael and Laurie. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Frances and his father, Richard Andrew; and his sister, Diane.
