Susana Vossler

Susana Susie Vossler, 99, Bismarck, died February 7, 2007, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Joel Winckler officiating. Burial will be held at Bethel Evangelical Cemetery, Mercer. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Susana Susie Vossler was born on October 21, 1907, southeast of Mercer in Sheridan County, ND, the daughter of Philipp Wall and Katherina Rueb Wall. Susie lived in Sheridan County until the age of eight when she moved with her parents south of Mercer to the farm that her grandparents had homesteaded. They lived in a sod house the first year there; the following year they built a large two story home that was later the home of Susie and Ed and their seven children. Susie married Edward C. Vossler on December 13, 1927, in McLean County at the family's farm house. Following Edward's death in 1955, she moved to Bismarck where she has since resided. Susie accepted Christ into her life in 1937 when she was in the hospital for four months and not expected to live. The doctors had given up hope of her regaining her health, but by the power and grace of God and prayers from her mother and others by her bedside, she lived for many more years. In Susie's spare time she would spend many hours making chenille bedspreads and rugs, crocheting, and knitting. She spent the last few years researching her genealogy with her cousin, Dale Wahl, and participated in many street fairs over the years. Susie is survived by her three sons, Leland Eunice of Mercer, ND, Wesley Verdelle of Minneapolis, MN, and Jim Koleen of Bismarck, ND; her three daughters, Darlene Kendall and Deloris Reuben Dockter, all of Bismarck, ND, and Jeannie Loren Soule of Wichita, KS; her daughter-in-law, Aletha Vossler of Bismarck, ND; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; her son, Arley Vossler; her grandson, Sheldon Lee Vossler; her baby sister, Mary; her brother, Philipp; and her son-in-law, Roger Kendall.
