Teressa Leapaldt

Teressa Kaye Leapaldt, 39, Bismarck, died August 15, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital, after living with cancer for six years. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Bismarck with the Rev. Les Wolfgram officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 PM. Teressa Breiland was born January 23, 1964, at Buxton, North Dakota, the daughter of Lowell and Arlene Kvitne Breiland. She was raised and attended school in Buxton. Teressa graduated as valedictorian from Central Valley High School in 1982. She then attended North Dakota State University where she received a BS degree in pharmacy in 1987. On March 7, 1987, Teressa married Joel Leapaldt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton. Following graduation, she was employed with the Tahoe City Pharmacy in Tahoe City, California. She worked in Sparks and Reno, Nevada, and at Thrifty White Drug in Minot. The family moved to Bismarck in 1998, where Teressa worked briefly for Thrifty White Drug. Teressa was an active member of her church where she was on the board of stewardship and sang in the church choir. She taught vacation bible school and joyfully completed a 60-week crossways bible study course. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, puzzles, bible study, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog. She is survived by her husband, Joel Leapaldt; her daughter, Madeline; her son, Tyre, all of Bismarck; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathryn and Lorry Waslien, and Shari Breiland, all of Grand Forks, North Dakota; her mother-in-law, Della Leapaldt of Jamestown, North Dakota; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Julie Leapaldt of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Kathryn and Steve Bietz of Bismarck, and Denise Leapaldt-Johnson and Dan Johnson of Bismarck; her aunt, Margaret Hardin of Kent, Washington; and seventeen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; one sister, Susan; her father-in-law, Alvin Leapaldt; and one uncle, Lloyd Kvitne. Memorials may be sent to Home Care and Hospice at St. Alexius Medical Center, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, or St. Alexius Medical Center.
