Theodora Nappen

Theodora "Teddy" Nappen, 75, Mandan, died February 15, 2007, at Medcenter One Hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Rev. Larry Geise officiating. Graveside services will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Teddy Nappen was born on July 11, 1931, in Velva, ND, to Hegbert and Norma Knutson Anderson. She was raised and educated in Velva. Teddy graduated from Velva High School in 1949. She graduated from Minot State College with degrees in music and business. While at Minot State she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority and sang soprano in the concert choir. On June 4, 1965, Teddy married Hollis Nappen in Minot, ND. They moved to Oxnard, CA, where she taught elementary school. In 1983, Hollis and Teddy moved to Montevideo, MN, and then to Mandan, ND, in January 2006. Teddy participated in many activities. She was a life long musician who sang in numerous choirs, played organ and directed the choir at her church. While living in Oxnard, CA, she was invited to sing the soprano solo in "The Messiah." Teddy enjoyed researching geneology and was president of the Jaabek Chapter of the Sons of Norway in Montevideo. She was also very active in the Chippewa County Historical Society of Montevideo, MN. Teddy is survived by her husband, Hollis of Mandan, ND; her sisters, Leah William Schott of Mandan, ND, and Sharon Robert Malzer of Minot, ND; her nieces, Kathy Rick Setterlund of Mandan, ND, Melanie Bernier of Bismarck, ND, Linda Bob Staton of Minneapolis, MN, Karen Paul Harrison of Minot, ND, and Nancy Joe Davis of Bismarck, ND; her nephews, David Kristi Schott and Keith Malzer both of Houston, TX; and numerous and much loved great-grandnieces and nephews. Teddy was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter, Holly. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Central Dakota Children's Choir, First Lutheran Church Mandan, or North Dakota Historical Foundation.
