Theodore Lang

Theodore Lang, 91, died April 27, 2008, after 3,466,184,400 heartbeats at Medcenter One Golden Manor in Steele. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Scott Bauman officiating. Burial will be Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Streeter. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday, May 1, 2008, one hour prior to the service at the church. Theodore was born on October 17, 1916, on the NE 1/4 of Section 32, Peace Township in Kidder County, the son of Friedrich and Rosina Roesch Lang. He grew up on the family farm south of Tappen. He had eight years of formal education and valued lifelong learning. On December 29, 1938, he married Louise Gums at the Lutheran Parsonage of a five-point parish in Streeter, ND. They purchased their own farm and ranch in Kidder County in 1941 and retired in 1985. In 1990, they moved to Bismarck. Ted was resourceful and did as much as he could with very little. He loved playing the harmonica and the accordion, telling stories and reminiscing, going for walks, television game shows, playing cards, and the McCoy Radio Ministry. Ted is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadine Roger Kuhn of Owatonna, MN, Theodora William Roth of Spring, TX, and Erica Alois Wangler of Bismarck; his sons and daughters-in-law, Wally Susan Lang of Larimore, ND, and Arlyn Roberta Lang of Moorhead, MN; his daughter-in-law, Eugenie Lang of Jamestown, ND; his sisters and brother-in-law, Rose Sylling of Billings, MT, Laura Marquart of Bismarck, and Gertrude Delbert Learn of Bismarck; his brothers and sisters-in-law, R. Clarence Lotte Lang of Seguin, TX, and Gilbert Mildred Lang of Tappen, ND; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; his sons, Wesley and Myrle; three sisters; two brothers and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Charity Lutheran Church, Germans from Russia Heritage Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
