Thilmer J Iszler

Thilmer J. Iszler, 89, Bismarck, died June 21, 2013, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, June 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Thilmer was born August 27, 1923, to Gottlieb and Mary Wolt Iszler. He graduated from Streeter High School in 1940 and attended Business College in Bismarck. He married Dean Wamsley in 1948. Thilmer's career in the farm/ranching business began and ended on the family farm in Streeter. He retired in 1995, and they moved to Bismarck. Thilmer had a great love for the land and he took great pride in conservation and improving the quality of his cattle operation. He was actively involved with the Kidder County Soil Conservation District and he served as president of the State Association in 1986. He received the NDSU Harvest Bowl Award in 1995. Thilmer served on the board of the Tappen Oil Company and also on the Streeter School Board. The Iszler's were active members of the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Streeter and served on various committees. When they moved to Bismarck in 1995, they transferred their membership to the First United Methodist Church, now Legacy United Methodist Church. Thilmer and sons, Dennis and Doug, spent quality time hunting and fishing and they enjoyed trail riding in Medora. Thilmer and Dean looked forward to the times the grandchildren spent with them on the ranch and also their visits to Bismarck. Thilmer was proud of their accomplishments and attended many piano recitals. Thilmer enjoyed retirement and spent many mornings with friends at Hardee's. His daily indoor walk was a priority. He loved to go back to the farm and visit with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, and his patience. Thilmer was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Dean Iszler, Bismarck; son, Doug Sheila Iszler, Fort Collins, CO; his daughter-in-law, Linda Will Blasczyk, Detroit Lakes, MN; five granddaughters, Kristin Blair Neff, Twin Falls, ID, Elizabeth Iszler, Woodbury, MN, Laura Aaron Vigesaa, Beulah, ND, Natasha Iszler, Loveland, CO, and Nicole Oscar Iszler, Bogota, Columbia; three brothers, Harry Peg Iszler, Bismarck, Norlyn Shirley Iszler, Streeter, ND, and Jimmie Susie Iszler, Miami, FL; two great-grandchildren, Zane Neff and Santiago Patina Iszler. He was preceded in death by his parents; a very special son, Dennis; a stillborn son; brother-in-law, Alan Wamsley and his wife, Sharon; niece, Anne Fortune; brother-in-law, Leo Fortune; his brother, Milton Iszler; and his sister, Florence Asplund. Thilmer's family would like to say a special thank you to our visitation Pastor Walt Schott and Pastor Kermit Culver for visits and prayers. We say thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center who became like a part of our family. Our strongest support was our son, Doug, who was with us daily by phone and internet and he would drive from Colorado anytime, day or night, to be with us when needed. Thanks to my sister, Jean Fortune, for her support and also a special friend, Marilyn Strutz with her mom Nedra, who stopped frequently to visit us and help shorten the long days. We appreciate Lee Selland's frequent- always fun visits, and all who helped us get through the last two most difficult years. God bless.
