Tilman Haadem

Tilman Haadem, 70, Tappen, died August 11, 2011, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, August 15, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tappen, with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will be held in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, August 14, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Tilman Henry was born October 5, 1940, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Roy and Gladys Englerth Haadem. He attended Tanner Township School and graduated from Tappen High School in 1958. He joined the army in the fall of 1959, and was stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1962. He was a trained guided missile and propellant storage specialist. He married Judith Carol Charlesworth on January 4, 1964. After they were married, they moved onto the family farm south of Tappen. In 1975, after his parents moved into Tappen, they took over the farm and have operated it ever since, raising Angus cattle and small grains. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was previously on the church council, was a member of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association, on the boards of Kidder County Soil Conservation, Tanner Township, and Farm Bureau. He and Judy received the Soil Conservation Achievement Award in 1991, and the North Dakota Angus Association Commercial Breeder of the Year in 1995. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildrens' activities and spending time with them. Tilman is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Corrina Jeff Pfaff; daughter-in-law, Lisa Haadem Tom Nienow; grandsons, Justin, Kip, and Matthew, and granddaughter, MiKayla; brother, ElRoy Carol; sisters, MonaKay and GayAnn; in-laws, Linda and Jim Faber, Jim Burtts, Forrest Charlesworth, Clint and Kitty Charlesworth; and Warren Charlesworth; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and great-friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gladys; son, Trent; sister, Rowene; and nephew, Ezra Burchinal. Memorials may be given to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church roofing fund.
