Vera Wetzel

Vera Wetzel, 85, passed away on March 28, 2008, at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday at the Tuttle United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Schott officiating. Burial will be at the Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until 9:00PM Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. The family will greet visitors from 5:00PM until 9:00PM; visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Vera was born June 23, 1922, in Arena, the daughter of Edward and Christina Schuler Ochsner. She attended school in the Tuttle area. Vera married Theodore Wetzel on July 12, 1943, in Steele, ND. Together they made their home north of Steele. In 1948, they purchased the Charlie Roselip farm southwest of Robinson where she lived and farmed side by side with her husband until his death in 2000. In 2001 she moved to Tuttle. In 2006 she moved to Valley View Heights and later to the care center. Her life long loves were baking wedding cakes including her children's cakes, baking for family and friends, gardening, quilting, playing bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid bowler for 30 years. Her greatest joy was winning the state Seniors Bowling Tournament and competing at the national tournament in Buffalo, New York. Vera was active in the Robinson Senior Citizens, Tuttle United Methodist Church and women's group, Robinson Homemakers, Robinson Art Club, and Tuttle VFW. She also taught bible school and Sunday school for many years. Vera is survived by one son, Darrell Myrna Wetzel, Bismarck; one daughter, LaRee Kevin Misek, Langdon; six grandchildren, Lynette Jeff Simonson, Bryan Wetzel, and Kristi Misek all of Bismarck, Darren Cheri Wetzel, Argusville, Heather Misek, West Fargo, and Melissa Misek, Langdon; four great granddaughters, Samantha and Jessica Wetzel, and Olivia and Isabelle Simonson; and three brothers, Lawrence Marion Ochsner, Norman Shirley Ochsner, and Marvin Ochsner. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her two brothers and their wives, Armen and Gladys Ochsner, and Vernold and Violet Ochsner. Our family would like to thank each of you for the kindness you have extended to us; your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.
