Vieana and Milo Janko

Vieana Janko, 83, and Milo Janko, 86, Kintyre, died August 27, 2004 at their home. Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Kintyre, with Rev. Paul Tjostem officiating. Burial will be in the Napoleon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 9 PM Sunday and 9 AM - 9 PM Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck and one hour prior to the service at the church. Vieana Amanda Volberg Kylmanen was born May 1, 1921 at Kintyre, ND the daughter of Samuel and Amanda Koski Kylmanen. She was raised and attended rural school in south Kidder County after the family moved there. Vieana loved her family very much. She enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved making gingerbread men for them. She was praised for her homemade bread. She had a smile for everyone. Milo George Janko was born August 9, 1918 on the family homestead in south Kidder County the son of Wesley and Katherine Ludvicek Janko. He was raised and attended rural school in south Kidder County. Milo enjoyed art and painted many pictures. He was very skilled in many things. He was a machinist, woodworker, gunsmith, and built 4 grandfather clocks. He was in many ways a perfectionist. He loved gardening and enjoyed sharing produce with friends and family. Vieana and Milo were married June 9, 1940 at Vieana's parent's home. They moved to a farm 15 miles south of Steele, where they raised their family and farmed and ranched until they retired. They are survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jane Hamel, Bismarck, ND and Belinda and Rob Dickson, Lincoln, ND; one son, Steven Janko, Kintyre, ND; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Vieana is survived by one brother, Edwin Kylmanen, Gold Canyon, AZ; one sister-in-law, Elbie Kylmanen, Carrington, ND; and one brother-in-law, Bill Janko, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Wesley Kylmanen; and four sisters, Marion Pennick, Ellen Janko, Elma Watts, and Esther Kylmanen. Milo is survived by one sister, Elbie Kylmanen, Carrington, ND; one brother, Bill Janko, Bismarck, ND; and one brother-in-law, Edwin Kylmanen, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John Janko.
