William "Bill" Michelsen

William "Bill" Michelsen, Jr., 84, Wing, ND, died October 3, 2013, at a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Wing High School with Rev. Trish DeBoer and Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be at Wing Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Bill was born on April 3, 1929, in Bismarck, ND, the son of William and Hazel Uhde Michelsen. He was raised and attended school in Regan, ND, and graduated from Regan High School in 1947 and then Valley City State Teacher's College. He married June Nelson, his high school sweetheart, on June 2, 1950, in Bismarck. June passed away on May 16, 2003. Bill taught high school in Hesper, Denhoff, Regan, Deering, and Wing, ND; totaling 42 years. He was a math and PE teacher and coached girls' and boys' basketball, track, and peewee baseball. He was very active in the First Congregational Church, Wing Lions Club for 50 years, and served as the Mayor of Wing for eleven years. Bill enjoyed watching girls' and boys' basketball, girls' volleyball, the Atlanta Braves and Green Bay Packers. He loved deer hunting with his family and playing bridge, pool, and horseshoes. Bill farmed for nearly 60 years. The perfect day for Bill was to wake up and fill his coffee thermos, jump in his old Chevy pickup, and head to the field. Bill is survived by three daughters, Debbie Randy Dockter of Bismarck, Candace Doug Glanville of Bismarck, and Pam Randy Wolff of Arena, ND; one son, Tim Janelle Michelsen of Bismarck; one sister, Shirley Virgle Engstrom of Bismarck; one brother, Bob Michelsen of Bismarck; twelve grandchildren, Jamie, Jesse, and Alicia Glanville, Jodi Faul, Kim Brian Rath, Daniel Christie Dockter, Mike Kari Wolff, Scott Rachel Wolff, Tanner Wolff, Holly Wolff fiancé, Chris Heins, Billy Michelsen, and Tasha Michelsen; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, Meghan, Madysen, Chance, Braxton, Brynlee, Nevaeh, Layken, Kynlee, Hunter, Hudson, and Addy; and four sisters-in-law, Colleen Jerry Murrey of Regan, Deloris Alm of Bismarck, Marlys Davis of Ankeny, IA, and Carla Michelsen of Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his wife, June; his parents; one sister, Odessa Zelmer; two brothers, Ernie and Collin Michelsen; six brothers-in-law, Leland "Bill" Davis, Stanley Felton, Willis Alm, Iven Alm, DuWayne Nelson, and Phillip Zelmer; four sisters-in-law, Norma Felton, Mercedes Alm, Ann Nelson and Maretta Michelsen; and two nephews, Mike Felton and Daniel Michelsen.
