Wilmer B Zenker

Wilmer B. Zenker, 79, passed from this life on October 28, 2010, with family at his side, at the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Gordon Brown officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Regent, ND, on Tuesday at 2:30 MT. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Wilmer was born January 10, 1931, in Havelock, ND, the son of John and Katie Wolf Zenker. He attended Tepee Butte School through the sixth grade. Wilmer grew-up knowing the meaning of hard work and always kept himself busy. He was a farmer, banker, and apartment and mobile home owner. Wilmer married Elizabeth Koffler on November 22, 1950, in Dickinson, ND. They farmed south of New England until 1974 when they moved to Dickinson. In 1975, they moved to Carson where Wilmer was president of Grant County State Bank. Wilmer received the Governor?s Leadership Award for ?Community Betterment Contest? for Carson, ND, on October 12, 1977. In 1983 the family moved to Bismarck, where they owned and operated the Mark V Studio Apartments. Wilmer?s wife, Betty, passed away in March 1993. Wilmer was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, where he served as a lay pastor and trustee. Wilmer especially enjoyed and took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters, Debi Daryl Erdman, Providence, KY, and Carol Zenker, Bismarck; his two sons, Alton Cherie Zenker, Carson, and Bill Roxy Zenker, Bismarck; 12 grandchildren, Julie, Jarrod, Jeremy, Steven, Brett, Krystle, Tony, Corissa, Joshua, Heather, Shanah and Sarah; 16 great-grandchildren, Van, Lex, Kelly, Colten, Brayden, Landan, Kamryn, Taylor, Paige, CayLee, Cadence, Aiden, Rylen, Milez, Conner and Carter; two sisters, Bertha Milbern Christensen and Adeline Kirschmann, all of New England; special friend, June Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; six brothers and five sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Regent, ND.
